Volunteering at the Circle of Life Garden
A huge thanks to the volunteers who have given their time on Saturday mornings to work in the Circle of Life Garden.
During the month of July and the first week of August we’ve had a number of very successful volunteering days in the garden and a lot was achieved in helping to maintain the garden to a high standard. Most of this work involved clearing overgrown areas, tidying, cutting back shrubs, annihilating weeds, dead heading roses etc.
There are many other areas of the garden/park yet to be tackled and we hope to continue with these volunteering events. We would welcome anyone who feels they could contribute a couple of hours to light gardening and maintenance, and it’s advisable to contact us prior to coming to the garden: facebook - https://www.facebook.com/strangeboat / email: info@strangeboat.org or at 087 7429080.
The newly created "Memory Walk" was the focus for one of the Saturday volunteering mornings, and although but a small area of the park, it is a very special space. On Saturday, 3rd August, one of the regular volunteers and a local Rockbarton resident, Eamonn Waldron, helped with the planting of two peony roses by Jane O'Leary in memory of her daughter, Caitriona, and Caroline Loughnane in memory of her husband, Richard.
A huge thanks to our volunteers to date:
John Loftus; Eamonn Waldron; Maura Treasa Beatty; Frank & Margaret Green; Angela O’Boyle; June O’Toole; Hal & Bernie Hennigan; Catherine Leonard; Aifric Gray; Marty, Pat, Margaret and Michael McGrath; Mike Casey; Ray Flaherty; Paddy Grehan; Hara Lelia; and Yazid Gaba. Also thanks to the ongoing work of Ruán Kelly and Sean Bane our two workers under the Dúchas na Gaillimhe Employment Scheme.
De réir a chéile………buíochas libh ar fad.
