Transplant Team Ireland's success at world games

Transplant Team Ireland which includes 4 liver and 23 kidney recipients, ranging in age from 30 - 79, return home from the World Transplant Games with 14 gold, seven silver and 11 bronze medals. The games were held in Malaga, Spain from 25th June - and July.

Professor Jim Egan, Director of Organ Donation & Transplant Ireland recently spoke on the Today with Sean O'Rourke programme on the release of the annual report of the ODTI.

The Winter/Christmas '16 edition of Support Magazine produced by the IKA, once again, covers  relevant and interesting stories relating to the organ donation/transplantation community.

Call for 2nd Kidney Transplanting Hospital

At the launch of the 2016 Organ Donor Awareness Week (2nd April - 9th April), the IKA called for a second kidney transplanting hospital, predicting that the 2,000 number of people on dialysis now will be 3,000 in ten year's time.

Heart transplant recipient remembered

Family and friends of the late Austin Dobson, came together for a fundraising event in Oldcastle in Co. Meath (January 21st)  to remember and celebrate Austin's life and to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.
