Launch of Organ Donor Awareness Week
Speaking at the launch of Organ Donor Awareness Week, the Chief Executive of the Irish Kidney Association, Mark Murphy, suggested that greater ties with Northern Ireland would increase organ transplants.
Fundraising Coffee Morning a huge success
The Coffee Morning held at Tigh Chualain, Conamara on Saturday 28th March to raise awareness for organ donation was a huge success, and raised the brilliant sum of €1,794 in support of Circle of Life Commemorative Garden in Salthill.
Run for a Life 2015
This is the seventh year of the Irish Kidney Association annual Run for a Life which promotes organ donor awareness and raises funds for the IKA. This year's event was held on Saturday, May 23rd at Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
Derry woman's organs donated
The family of Derry woman, Lisa Orsi, who collapsed following a trip to a volcano in Indonesia last week will donate her organs to save six lives.
Decrease in organ donation & transplantation in 2014
2014 has been described as a disappointing year for organ doantion and transplantation in Ireland after a record year in 2013. There were 251 transplants in 2014 compared with 294 in 2013.
