New Home Haemodialysis treatment

People with end stage renal failure (ESKD) can now avail of a new Home-haemodialysis treatment in Ireland. This pilot treatment programme has recently been rolled out by Beaumont Hospital.

Beaumont's Outstanding Year in Transplantation

243  organ transplants occurred in Ireland in 2009 thanks to the generosity of the families of 90 deceased organ donors. A further 18 living donor transplants took place last year.

New UK Transplant Decision

Family of deceased organ donors in the UK will now be permitted to suggest that an organ from their deceased relative should be offered to someone in their family who would benefit from a transplanted organ. This follows a recent decision by the UK Transplant Authority to allow Directed Deceased Organ Donation in a number of specific circumstances.
