HIQA Report Shows Major Flaws

HIQA, the Health Information and Quality Authority, has published its report into the circumstances that led to the failed transportation of Meadhbh McGivern for liver transplant surgery on July 2.

Photographic Project on Organ Donation

"My name is Amy Plant and I am planning a project for my final year of a BA Honours Degree in photography, to do a series of portraits of people who have received organ transplants.  As my Mam became an organ donor following her death earlier this year, this is a subject very close to my heart."

Australian-Irish Connection

Organ donor families and recipients from Tasmania and Ireland were brought together in a very unique way during the first Tasmanian Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving held on May 21st last in Launceston, Tasmania.

Prime Time features Cystic Fibrosis

Prime Time on RTE television (12th April) featured the treatment of  Cystic Fibrosis in Ireland today with a very personal report by Orla Tinsley, who has first hand experience of living with CF in the Ireland of 2011.

Rise in organ donations in first half of 2011

While 2010 saw the worst decline in organ donation on record, the good news is the outstanding organ donation and transplantation figures for the first six months of 2011. According to the National Renal Transplantation Team at Beaumont Hospital, 2011 could be a record year for kidney transplants.
